Balance in life

How to find recovery in a stressful everyday life

Stressed and tired in everyday life? Recovery doesn't have to be complicated. Here are a few simple tips on how to find peace and new energy when life goes on.

It's easy for the weeks to just rush by and it feels like you've run an ultra-marathon since your last vacation, your energy is gone.
– As the days roll by, it's easy to forget about the important recovery. Keep going in the same rut instead of stopping and reflecting on what your body needs to feel good, says Tina Uppfeldt, head of training development at Friskis.

Find the balance – and you'll get recovery

But what exactly is recovery and what does it look like for you? Different days require different things. Sometimes it can be chilling out, sleeping extra long, watching series or filling up on food and drinks. Other times it's about stopping and breathing for five minutes before you take on the next challenge.
– A nice and lovely training routine has a good balance between training and recovery. Breakdown and build-up.

Give yourself time to breathe

Shifting demands and workload is often a smart idea. A basic idea is to think about what you need to recover from.
Some people refer to them as 'striped days'. If you have had a lot of people around you all day, it can be important to have some alone time in the evening. If you have been working at home with routine tasks, a challenging padel match can be just right.

Find the little breaks in everyday life

Sleep and diet are our absolute most important building blocks when it comes to recovery. But there is a lot we can do in between to get that important break.
– Take a power walk or do a calm yoga session, for example. It is good for both body and soul, says Tina Uppfeldt.
