Get into circuit training

Build your own circuit workout and keep it simple. You can create the following exercises without any equipment, anywhere. Check them out here:

What: Five stations
Time: One minute per station
Rest between exercises: 15-30 seconds
Number of rounds: Choose yourself. Maybe three?
Idea: A few strength stations and some cardio boosters. Set a timer for one minute and restart it between each station. That gives you a few seconds to catch your breath. It's going to be tough, we promise, and you can, of course, vary the exercises endlessly. Just don't forget to warm up before you start!

Resistance Band Extravaganza

et yourself some resistance bands to work out with, and ideally several with different resistances. You can do most types of training with resistance bands, and they take up hardly any space in your weekend bag. You'll find exercise suggestions in the Friskis Go training app. Experiment and try things out – it's your vacation after all!

Summer Interval Training

You can interval walk, interval jog, or interval run. And everything works better with the "interval" add-on. Check it out here:

Walk or jog fast for a hundred steps, then a little slower for a hundred steps. Repeat – that's interval training in its infancy. If you want to avoid counting steps, try passing three lampposts quickly and three a bit slower. Or increase your pace for one song in your headphones, then slow down for the next.

Intervals aren't just about improving your fitness and performance; they can also be used to transition from power walking to running. Try adding three shorter running stretches at the end of your power walk. Next time, try four or five bursts of speed, and presto – you've completed a full running session. Don't forget your intervals this summer!

Exercise bands

Exercise bands look a lot like the tension straps you use to secure things on a roof rack or a trailer, but with handles. If you pack an exercise band in your vacation bag, you've pretty much got a whole gym with you. Attach the bands to a tree or a beam and get started – press, pull, lift yourself. The sky's the limit when it comes to the range of exercises, and don't forget you can incorporate twists when you're using exercise bands. Twists are fantastic training!
