Our Association
Friskis&Svettis Aberdeen has been part of this city since 1987 — long before boutique fitness, gym selfies, or wellness culture made exercise feel like a performance. We've always believed something simpler: that moving your body should feel good, and that doing it with other people makes it even better.
We started life as Swedish Style Aberdeen and became an official part of the Friskis&Svettis movement in 2005. Since then we've grown into a proud non-profit association with classes across Aberdeen and the shire — and we're still going strong.
What we believe
We're part of a Swedish movement founded in 1978 with a clear idea at its heart: exercise should be for everyone. Not just the young, the fit, or the confident — everyone.
That means our classes are a genuine no-pressure zone. No unrealistic standards, no body ideals, no competition with the person on the mat next to you. At Friskis&Svettis Aberdeen you can show up exactly as you are, move in a way that feels good, and leave feeling better than when you walked in.
We're in the experience business, not just the health business. We want you to enjoy it so much you never want to stop.
Our community
Friskis&Svettis Aberdeen brings together people of all ages, backgrounds, and fitness levels. We exercise in many different ways — from Jympa classes at community centres across the city, to free Viking Hiking sessions at Hazlehead Park — because the passion for movement is personal, and what works for one person might not work for another.
What we all share is the belief that exercise is a natural part of life, and that a welcoming community makes all the difference.
Our committee
The association is run entirely by volunteers — members who believe in what we do and give their time to keep it going. We're enormously grateful to all of them.
