Friskis&Svettis – Making Joyful Movement Accessible for Everyone

Friskis&Svettis always aims to give more people the chance to discover the joy of movement. Our members—people of all ages—are the heart of Friskis&Svettis.

We’re Made Up of 154 Non-Profit Sports Associations:

  • 102 associations in Sweden
  • 43 associations in Norway
  • Other associations can be found in Helsinki, Vantaa, Copenhagen, Brussels, Paris, Luxembourg, Fuengirola, London, and Aberdeen.

Friskis growth

Anyone can apply to start a Friskis association. There’s no central headquarters deciding when or where a new Friskis should launch—it’s driven by passionate individuals who start new associations and spread the movement further.

Passion driven

Volunteer engagement is at the core of the Friskis movement. Almost all of our training sessions are led by dedicated, licensed volunteer leaders and trainers. At our training locations, hosts help create a welcoming atmosphere and keep things running smoothly.

Members in focus

Friskis&Svettis is owned by its members. This means every member has a voice, and all revenue and any surplus are reinvested back into the members. This could include:

Training and education for leaders
Improved facilities and equipment
New initiatives to make training even more fun and accessible
Member Democracy – Make Your Voice Heard
The annual meeting is the highest decision-making body of any local Friskis association. The decisions made by members during this meeting guide the entire operation of your Friskis club. As a member, you have the right to vote and submit motions (proposals) about the future of the association.

At the annual meeting, members decide who will be part of the board and what their responsibilities will be. The board ensures that the association operates according to the plans and goals set by the members—and always prioritizes the members' best interests.

Friskis&Svettis Riks

Your local Friskis&Svettis association belongs to you and all other members. In turn, these associations are members of Friskis&Svettis Riks, sometimes referred to as the association of associations.

Friskis&Svettis Riks manages the overall vision of Friskis&Svettis, representing the associations on shared matters and promoting common interests. Their responsibilities include:

  • Developing new training formats
  • Managing Friskis’ educational programs
  • Leading joint digitalisation efforts
  • Protecting and evolving the Friskis&Svettis brand

Each year, Friskis&Svettis Riks hosts the movement’s annual meeting, which is the highest decision-making authority within the organisation. The official spokesperson for the movement is the Secretary-General of Friskis&Svettis.
